Oktoberfest at German Park

On this beautiful fall day, we took a chance at a different Oktoberfest held in German Park!

One of the oldest traditions in Indianapolis was an amazing sight to see!

German Park reminds one of a sweep-away camp with all the heart of your youth!

There was plenty of music, beer and traditional dancing!

So we grabbed some tickets and made our way to the festooned food and drink vendors!

Of course, Victor was the life of the party!
His German blood coursing through his veins, he began to dance on the table to a rhythm that spoke to his ancestry!

We had pretzels and beer we couldn't pronounce and even ran into some people we knew!

Everywhere we looked was vendors and decorations!
The authenticity of this place could not be matched for such an event!

They had two stages, a Biergarten, and plenty of kids activities too!
The restaurant would definitely be worth another trip on its own merit!

Victor loved seeing it all: especially from Daddy's shoulders!
Great twin day!  Prost!

Our State Fair is a Great State Fair!

We were once again hitting up the Indiana State Fair!
This year, we decided to avoid the Tuesday crowds and see the fair on another weekday!

Greg was able to get us free tickets!
The only thing better than $2 Tuesday is free!

The fair was considerably less crowded as we made our way around the food vendors!
It was a gorgeous summer day!

We finally settled on The Big Cheeze!
Their marketing was on-point and really drew us in!

We tried the Mac Daddy and CFB fries!
YUM!

Next we headed over to the beer and wine pavilion!
They had a different setup this year and we were able to get a flight to try several wines.

Instead of having tables of vendors, two bars offered local beverages.
We did not find any wines that were worth drinking, so we switched to the beer area.

After a couple of drafts, we were ready to head back out into the summer night.
It was a refreshing way to experience the fair!

We walked to the end of the road where the kiddie area had many rides for the littles!
It gave us a chance to see all the food vendors and select what we would try next!

Ashley had never tried deep fried desserts, so we decided to get the sampler.
We had both deep fried oreos (amazing) and deep fried cookie dough (a little doughy)!

After all the good eats, we headed to the midway to check out the rides!
No lines and plenty of good people watching made this an easy experience!

The twinkling lights of the midway called us through to the exciting rides!
The calm night air was enchanting!

We decided to ride the ferris wheel!
This is always on our top list of things to do!

The view on this clear night was stunning!
The hustle and bustle of the fair activities were far below us as we rose higher into the tranquil night sky!

As we began to reach the apex of the wheel, the Full Sturgeon Moon peeked through wispy clouds.
It was a magical moment as the eerie moon's glow cast itself on the fairgrounds!

We felt very bewitched to get a view of this moon as if we were riding on our broomsticks over Indy!
What a wonderful feeling!

We had a great time looking over all the fair rides and booths from such a great height.
We could see for miles!

It was a beautiful night to see the full moon, have a drink, and ride the ferris wheel!
The smaller crowd made the evening much more enjoyable as we never felt rushed or pushed!

Great twin night!
