This week Emily and I made sure to attend Indianapolis' annual Chinese festival!
We parked on campus and walked through the fall breeze to military park where there were booths, food tents, and even a concert stage!
We took in all the booths, walking together as we did in Korea and feeling nostalgic of our time in foreign lands. We then sat near the concert stage and listened to the beautiful haunting notes of Asian string instruments as their sounds melded into one with the wind through the trees.
Then, the drums began to pound and the procession of the "dragon team" began!
As the dragons snaked their way through the park, children took paper lanterns and ran alongside!
We followed the procession all along the White River Canal where the dragon appeared the swim through the waters.
As the dragon grew closer, and the drums louder, we could feel overwhelming goosebumps in knowing we were a part of something that has centuries of culture behind it.
As we left the festival, we kept the evening theme alive by having dinner at PF Chang's! Their Asian dishes never cease to disappoint! We spent the evening in perfect weather and felt blessed to enjoy our time together with the memories of adventures past while making new memories for the future!
