Turkey Hill $2 Tuesday at State Fair!
Perfect weather, perfect prices! Our annual trip to the fair proved to be a fantastic summer night! Greg joined us for some traditional as well as nontraditional fair food! Emma had a lamb burger, and I had a lamb burrito with the ever deliciously famous Doc's classic root beer! Then we went to the dairy barn to get some of their famous craft ice cream cones! Greg got an extra scoop but we weren't too jealous :)
We walked through some exhibits and then Em and I rode the ever exciting Blizzard forwards and backwards! We were sore from laughing and screaming!
Then, we went for a spin on the enchanting gondolas where we got a look over the whole enchanting fair filled with twinkling lights, bells and whistles, and the bustling crowds.
The end of summer air was cool and perfect for our final stroll down the midway where we picked up some two dollar warm "mouse ears". The perfect evening for a State Fair adventure!
Our State Fair is a great State Fair! Don't miss it, don't even be late!

Devouring Dowtown... and then some!
We were able to have dinner on the rooftop patio at the "End of the Line" in historic Fountain Square.
The name comes from Fountain Square's use as streetcar turnaround at the intersection of Virginia Avenue, Shelby, and Prospect Streets, beginning in 1864. For a long time, the neighborhood was known as "The End" by the locals.
Although the weather was hot, we enjoyed the downtown views and the delicious lineup they had for the Devour Downtown event beginning with their Fresh Baked Pretzel Sticks with Havarti dill & Stout beer cheese sauce appetizer! Sun King brews, fresh burgers, and summer breeze... who could ask for anything more?!?
We then proceeded to New Day Meadery to try their cider selections. We agree, the "South Cider" was worth the trip!

Shakespeare on the Canal
The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice, is one of the great tragedies by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written in approximately 1603. Othello is a highly esteemed general in the service of Venice. Iago is Othello's ambitious friend. Othello promotes the Michael Cassio to the position of personal lieutenant and Iago is deadly jealous. Iago begins an evil and malicious campaign against the hero. Othello elopes with Desdemona but Iago starts to plot against them. Othello becomes jealous and suspicious of Desdemona. He confides in Iago that he plans to poison Desdemona. Plots and murders ensue and Othello returns to the castle to kill his innocent wife. He eventually smothers her to death.
Emilia tells Othello the truth about the scheming Iago. Othello wounds Iago, then kills himself. Iago kills Emilia. What a tragedy... but we loved it!

The beautiful sunset over White River was the perfect backdrop for the drama. Birds flew low over the river and sunshine sparkled over the valley. It was as though we were all transported to another time where the language was formal, but the stories were all the same.
A perfect summertime Shakespeare picnic among friends!

Fourth of July
What a beautiful 4th of July!
We packed a picnic and went to Eagle Creek park for a relaxing day swimming and lounging on the "beach". We got to sit back and listen to patriotic songs under the sway of the park trees while enjoying a smoky chicken salad sandwich and crisp Angry Orchard cider.
After wading in the creek and lounging in the summer sun, we read patriotic poetry in the grass. We reminisced about our country's history and what it means to fly the flag.It was the perfect weather and a perfectly lazy patriotic day at the park!

City Market and Tap Room
We had always wanted to check out City Market.
On this sunny evening, we had a Groupon and a desire to see something new!
We had sandwiches outside while staring at the oldest part of the City Market.
It started to remind us of the portal Sirius Black slipped through...

After some refreshing conversation in the sunshine, we headed inside to sample some beers at the Tap Room.

IMA Summer Nights
We took a po'boy and fresh caprese picnic to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to see the Alfred Hitchcock classic "Rear Window" on the outdoor big screen! The 1954 film is considered by many filmgoers, critics, and scholars to be one of Hitchcock's best!

Jeff: I've seen it through that window. I've seen bickering and family quarrels and mysterious trips at night, knives and saws and ropes, and now since last evening, not a sign of the wife. All right, now you tell me where she is...
Lisa: Maybe he's leaving his wife, I don't know, I don't care. Lots of people have knives and saws and ropes around their houses and lots of men don't speak to their wives all day. Lots of wives nag and men hate them and trouble starts. But very very few of them end up in murder if that's what you're thinking....................................SUSPENSE!.........................................
The weather went from warm to chilly and the mosquitoes were friendly, but we had an amazing night full of fun and suspense!
